Anyone hear the draw odds last year for archery? I know they are not good. At $25 per chance it could get expenive.

Look on the New Mexico Fish and Game web site and the numbers are on there. You have to guess a bit at what the hunts were, but I'm sure the cow hunts were the lower apps.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-15-05 AT 08:00PM (MST)[p]Be aware that the nonres are now held to a 20% cap on this no matter what the percentage of lottery tickets are nonres. This hardly makes it worth buying a ticket and i think you will have a really hard time finding your odds as a nonres advertised anywhere,
At first the Caldera management got the landowner permits just like the last owners and did what they felt was the best way to raise money to keep the place self funded. This was a so called deal that when the US federal govt bought it that they said the place will not be funded by the taxpayers and had to be self funded by raising money from use. well after a bunch of locals found out they only drew like 6 permits 2 years ago they cried foul, even though the residents only purchased about the same amount of lottery tickets.
of course the management folded and now the new owners dont get the same landowner tag rules as the rest of the state, just because the new owners are the federal govt. Well i hope they dont start whining that there isnt enough money being raised next....... or ask the US taxpayers to buy them another personal hunting ranch.

I thought the odds now were pretty tough.

Probably not worth the money,

Gary

The non-resident odds are in the draw odds posted on the New Mexico web site along with the odds from all the other units.

correct, last year a couple tags were put in the F&G draw and those odds are listed, you will not find the lottery odds in the F&G websight.

Did they change the rule where you have to send back your regular draw tag for no refund and then turn around and buy a regular tag for that unit if you draw both a Valles Caldera and regular draw tag?

Just put in for a hunt with USO, they "use to" show their hunts from that place all the time on their program on the Outdoor Channel!!!

Everyone, don't get huffy now, i'm only kidding.

Risking internet insult, I will have to say that these hunts should never have been left outside of the 78/22 rule imposed by NMGF. Before bashing me for saying this - think about where we are going as a result of USO.....
