Colorado cow hunt info?

I've got a buddy who is hunting with his son in unit 81 in colorado.It's a youth cow tag and would be the boys first elk,anyway their having trouble finding elk. They sure would appreciate any help they can get. There planning to go out this Monday so if you can get them headed in the right direction I'm sure the kid would enjoy the early Christmas present! Thanks for any info!

Kipper, If they can make it(snow is not too bad), try kerr lake around platoro. Another good spot is up Lake Fork/saddlecreek area, the snow may get deep but there is always a herd that sticks around up top. However if there is too much snow to get up into kerr lake or saddlecreek, osier is a good place. But you will have to push the trees. I hunted 4th season this year right after a good snow, all I saw was one cow. But I didnt get to hunt like I usually do, due to an injury. So I didn't kill anything but a rock. Good luck

Thanks for the info, My buddies up there right now,hopefully this new snow got them moving around more.Dont know how much snow came down but yesterday I was out predator hunting around San Antonio Mt and it started snowing about 4:30-5.I will pass that info to him . I Appreciate your help.
