I am planning on a archery hunt next year for the Steens mounatins. I really didnt mean for this to sound gready but, I was wondering what kind of terrain to expect, amount of deer/big bucks, and also any starting points for scouting next year. Would be willing to trade info on Nevada if needed.

Thanks for looking at the post and any info in advance.

I have read it 2 times but i was looking for someone that has hunted it more than once for a little info

The Steens don't have the deer they used to, at least not where they used to be... You can spend a lot of time up high in Kiger, Big/Little Indian and not get into many deer. I hunted hard two years ago and saw a big buck up high in early August but by rifle season it was hard to find a doe. If you want a chance at a big buck concentrate on the flats. I found plenty of deer and a few quality bucks out in the flats that everyone else passes by. Be prepared to put more than a few miles on your boots but they are around.

Hey Thanks NWELKHunter I deffinately will take that and use it.

I usually pack about 5-10 miles back in the Ruby Mountain wilderness here in Nevada so walking shouldn't be an issue but more of a plus. The more walking I can do usually means the more distance I can put between me and everyone else.

I also forgot to add that its gonna be a solo hunt as well.
