co elk units 14,15,16,and 27 near Steamboat

Looking for info on these areas and would appreciate some help. We've been hunting unit 19 and there are some good bulls but we'd like to go to an area where we might have a chance of getting into more elk and maybe less qaulity bulls. Has anybody hunted these areas early for archery or blackpowder? Are the bulls pretty vocal usually? Im not asking for specific directions to your area but want some general info on these units if you have some. We'll be archery hunting. Thanks, Gary

Where the heck have you been? Havent seen a post from you since a couple hunting seasons ago. I'll still be in 19 again chasing those big bulls (he he) with a bow! I hunted cow elk a few years ago in 28 (Kremmling) and most recently deer in 28. how did last year go? I got skunked. Jeff

Oh I have a friend that bowhunted in the Zirkels last year. I dont know if that is in 5 or 14. He said there was way to many hunters, even though he packed in 4 miles. Jeff

Hi Jeff, ive been around just havent been on the site for awhile. I got divorced and had a bumpy road for awhile but now im back. I had one good chance at a decent bull last year even though i was close several times and missed. I killed a small whitetail archery in kansas and got a huge mule deer in colorado w rifle that was my year in a nutshell. Hoping to draw some tags this year!!! Gary

That is cool you got on a nice bull consistantly. I lost my place in Stove Prairie (it finally sold) so I'll be a looking for another spot or 2 this fall.
I am suprised nobody has any info for you. I'll ask my buddy at church tomorrow what unit(s) he was in, in the Zirkels. Jeff
