LAST EDITED ON Apr-01-05 AT 10:23AM (MST)[p]Never do see too many good pictures of some quality elk in Colorado, so I thought I would post one. Got the off season blues...but at least pictures seem to ease the pain....

This was taken in northwest colorado, unit 5, on a ranching for wildlife hunt. It was on private land but can be drawn on a public tag. Not all ranching for wildlife properties are as bad as people make them out to be.

Great bull!!! I was by Three Forks in 2 falls ago and hunted public land to the south of them.......my dinky 4x5 can't compete with that toad! Course I spent a lot less too. :)
Thanks for the pics and congrats on a dandy bull!

It is the easiest cow hunt ever, other than shooting one behind a high fence.... Big Al is working for Hunter Specialties now....sandbagger...gotta love the big man though....I've taken a couple good bulls and bucks off the public ground and have seen some bulls pretty similar to this one.

Good to see we have some quality and not all quanity! It looks like september around there? Bow, rifle? How many points did it take? That ranch seems to be in a lot of huntin movies lately and most bulls they show are all raghorns even the bulls shot by big $ pay clients not the public folk like you. Nice thanks for sharing. Jeff

That is the Three Forks RFW. It's some 38,000 acres of private ranch so if it is like the area I cow elk hunted a few years back it is criss crossed with access. Since it is private vehicles may be driven to the animal or perhaps the large grop of hired hands were called in to move it to a road whole.

I'm not putting it down because it is one of the better RFW hunts a Colorado resident can draw, they treat you well. If you can afford the private hunts then good for you.
