statistics on elk per state

I'm trying to find estimates of elk population numbers and total hunter harvests in the western states. I can't seem to find the numbers by searching the internet. Any suggestions.

Chad--

All this info will be presented at the deer elk workshop in Reno NV the week of May 16th--18th. Most all the states present their info here and so for sure it should be available after this conference. If you can find the right person at the various states they could give it to you as well.

Hope this helps

EVERY STATE HAS HARVEST INFO ON LINE!

CO has the most elk of any state~300,000

yeah, they say that every year, I still find it hard to believe myself.

Dutch I agree 100% I wish they would publish the number of elk harvested on public land in non wilderness areas, that would give the average hunter the real odds of success. But that won't happen.

Actually, Oregon has the most elk. Colorado has the most Rocky Mountian Elk. Wyoming has the highest overall hunter success ratio. Arizona has the biggest bulls. For highest hunter sucess on public lands you might try Wyoming. About 80% of the elk habitat is on public ground. They let you take two elk a year. The seasons last at least two weeks also.
As far as Statistics for Arizona. The draw odds and the hunter sucess from last year are listed in the back of the Regulation booklet (available for free on line). For quality hunts try a rut hunt in Nevada, Utah phu hunt, Arizona Early Bull, Any of the areas in Colorado, Wyoming or Montana that require a drawing for residents to hunt in. I don't have any info on Oregon Washington or Idaho.

I have looked at the hunter stats on Co. Do they publish unit population estimates and if they do where would I find them? Thanks.
