Nonresident elk results 2/21

Makes me wonder why all states can't turn around drawing results as fast as this. It would be so much easier to plan for the fall.

They say by 10am mountain time, I've hunted WY for elk two years in a row as a NR. 2017 burned my points and 2018 was lucky enough to have friends that averaged with me for a two point hunt for elk. This year put in for a hunt with a 4% random draw odds but hey maybe my luck will continue. Stay tuned for tomorrow.

when I find out if I drew!! but I put in for the early non-res draw and I point shared so I'm probably not worth of any secret info

You point shared? What a Aho1e. lol

I'm hoping my son draws his elk tag with one less than max points. If he does I will look forward to scouting for him. I better check up on all the WY scouting laws - I don't want to go to prison. We didn't point share even though I paid for all of his points while he was in high school and college - we don't want to upset the locals by doing that - LOL

Were you able to see something that said "unsuccessful"? Assuming we didn't draw, but when we login to check results were not seeing anything that says successful or not successful, just our preference points totals from last year.

that sucks did not draw. being one off max just sucks seems like every year somebody with max always jumps in. guess I will be point sharing again this year and hunting G again.

>that possible....

Yes. Looks like 27% with two points drew the general tag.

Wow, I guess even WY general elk tags are getting hard to come by....

Cashed in max points this year! Excited to be chasing Wyoming elk for the first time this September. And maybe again in October if necessary.

Unsuccessful. I'm behind a 1/2 point each yr! What I do know is point creep is a real ##### in WY. It's worse than any other state currently for as I can tell

Unsuccessful here for a type 9 with 10 points. Ouch :(

Good luck to all you who drew.

Cheers, Pete

Oh yeah...got my 35-1 tag. 2018 Deer and Antelope hunt. 2019 Elk hunt. 2020 Deer and Antelope hunt. Man I love this state.

I learned it from a guy on here...Thanks amigo! Regular draw no less!

Unsuccessful again with max points. I guess I should have expected this result as the Unit that I've been applying for only has 1 NR tag available in the Regular Preference Point Draw and 1 available in the Special Preference Point Draw.

What I don't understand is why the Game and Fish allow applicants to apply as a group when there is only 1 tag available. Last year 2 people applied as a group and their application was selected and therefore the Game and Fish awarded 2 tags. This year, the same thing happened again. In the special Preference Point Draw there were only 4 total applications; am I to assume that if all of the people got together and applied together that the Game and Fish would award 4 tags instead of 1?

Personally I think that if there is only 1 tag available and you and some friend(s) decide to apply as a group; your application should be disqualified.

Just my 2 cents. If only I could buy a couple extra Preference Points from Wapitiman as he has stated in an earlier post that he has extra?

Just checked the odds page. Hahahahaha

Two guys jumped in with 11 points this year and there were two of us with 10 for the remaining tag.

You guessed it. I'm the one left holding the door. LOL !!!

Next year will be my year :)

Cheers,
Pete

I think I read that the Wyoming elk draw will be held in June starting in 2020 (apply in May)? Is this correct? I will have 11 points going into 2020 and plan to draw an elk tag, the June drawing will actually work better for me just not sure I have the correct information?

That is a bummer Pete. I was looking forward to all of our scouting and hunting videos! I guess I will have to wait until 2020.

What I believe is that the application period will stay the same for NR's so you will have until end of January to apply.

Results will be out the same week as the deer and pronghorn.

A party application with that guy would have taken care of your problem---wink wink!

Congrats to everyone who drew! I wasn?t lucky enough to get a tag this year.

Keeping the NR application period in January for 2020 but releasing results with deer/antelope what's the reasoning to that? I understand spring counts/tag number changes and why the draw was changed. Wouldn?t it make more sense to allow NR that information also before they decide the unit they wish to apply for like residents are allowed.

That sucks C3!!!! I?be been one or less behind for that unit for 6+ years now. I'll have 11 going into it for next year as well.

Put my son?s GF in for elk, as she really wanted to try archery season. Whoopee!! General tag in the Special draw. Zero points!!!

Not to mention, that's a long time for your money to be held out there being that WY charges up front...

My son and I cashed in our points this year and drew unit 19, type 1. Glad to be hunting this year and getting out of the elk point game. General tags from here on out.
