Utah Central Mountains- Archery Elk Advice?

So I got lucky and drew the Utah Central Mountains- Archery Elk tag this year. I'm originally from Oregon...I hunt in Oregon, Idaho and New Mexico for elk but never Utah. Unfortunetly, my hunting partner cannot make it for this hunt so I'm on my own for now. I thought I'd throw up a posting looking for advice on hunting the unit or even possibly a partner. I'd also consider paying a small fee for a local to show me the area and give some suggestions.

If you don't get some help and ideas for free here. I would consider hiring a guide but I would avoid at all cost 'paying a small fee for a local to show me the area and give some suggestions'. The USFS is cracking down on these folks and I know a few where charges have been filed or already levied for folks who are doing this without a special use permit from the Forest Service.

Is it for the Manti, Nebo, or Wasatch unit? I could give you some pointers on the Wasatch.

I'm sure you'll get enough good info that you'll get into elk w/o having to hire a guide.

In any of the above areas you could probably hook up with some of the locals to camp with-they'll be hunting deer, and cow/spike elk at the same time.

Should be a phenominal year for antlers!

It's the Manti tag...any help or drainage suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I hear there is good access in the area by road. Are there a lot of closed road opportunitiy's in the area? I'd like to get out of traffic if possible but also need to consider getting game out in a timely mannor. I was born in Utah and can't wait to get back and hunt it.
