Anyone hunt archery elk in southeast Idaho.Was thinking about maybe trying it since we didn't draw anything.Any info would be accepted.Maybe I can return some info on Colorado.

I hunted Deer in Southeast Idaho last year gun season just after archery was over saw lots of elk but no elk tag. I seen one that would go at least 360 B&C and three bulls 280-300 B&C. I was hunting in the Meade Basin area of unit 76 north of Montpelier they were still chasing cows and bugling hard hope this helps.

I've archery hunted in SE Idaho for several years now. I have only bought the Island Park and Bannock A Tags. I know most of the units fairly well and I could give you some general info on what ever units your interested in hunting. Units 76 & 66A (Dimond Creek Zone) have a nice sized elk herd but there are also alot of guys that archery hunt there. The F&G have increase the number of cow tags to reduce the size of that elk herd.
There are still plenty of nonresident tags left so you don't have to decide right away. I would expect the nonresident elk tags to be sold out around the end of August or first part of September but that is only a guess.
