Here's a few pic's of a nice non-typical bull we got some trail camera pic's of this past week. He's still got at least another month of growing and should be a real dandy.

I'm gonna guess that bull at 350" right now and say he may go 370" by the time he is finished. He's a taker fer sure. What do the rest of ya think?

We killed a 356 bull and that bull is bigger than he was already. I'd say as of now 360-365 and still growing. Great pics-keep em coming.

I could be wrong but please correct me if I am. Unless you own the land it is illegal to bait any animal in the state of AZ and that include Salt licks or anything else.

Am I right or Wrong

You are wrong. In Arizona you can bait everything and anything except migratory gamebirds and bears.

Best we can tell from these and other pic's we have, he's a 9x7. Although on another pic we have his main beam on the 9 point side is clearly beginning to split into another point. I have no idea why his third is messed up, but I think it adds some character and it's actually developing into a drop tine. Hopefully we'll get some more pic's in the next couple weeks that will let us see his progress. By the way the "19" at the bottom right means June 19th. He's got a lot more time to grow out his top end.

No major problems with elk. We've had a few cases where we'll get a few pic's with nothing but a big elk or deer nose right in the camera and a little slobber on the lense, but nothing that hurts or damages the camera. Bears seem to like to play with them, but we've never had one damage the camera. People are probably the biggest problem, they like to steal them.

I had 3 cameras set up last year. I only had problem in one spot. The first time I thought my camera had been stolen but later found it stomped almost out of sight in a wallow 20 yards away. I of course thought I was going to have great pictures of elk beating up my camera, but the first hit pulled the wires out of the battery. I set it up again and thought I had anchored it well to a dead tree. When I came back the tree was down and my camera was gone. I have yet to find it. It probably spent a few days on some elks antlers traveling around taking beautiful pictures of the canyon!

got a simple question...

you are 30 yards aways from that bull and he is in the position of the 2nd and third pick...he spotted you and you feel he will take off any second...would you take the shot and if you would where would you place it? this is during archery and i was just thinking if i would take the shot and to tell you the truth i don't know..i don't have enough experience with archery to decide...i know i can place the arrow at thirty yards (if i'm not shaking to much!!!)

just wondering and by the way awsome pics!!!

All 3 of those positions are a great bow shot. The quartering toward you angle is not that drastic of an angle. I would let my arrow fly just to the right of his nose.

Personally, I try to w/hold from taking a quartering towards me shot until the bull provides an opportunity at either broadside or better yet slightly quartering away. That pic is tough to tell, a big factor for me is the position of his front left leg. The leg facing you gives you a better idea of the position of his shoulder blade, if I were to take that shot it would have to be tightly placed above his elbow. I'm not a big fan of that shot, however being there at that exact location w/that exact bull could drastically change my way of thinking.

Great Bull, thank's for sharing the pic!!

Nice pics Tim!
Does he have short legs or does it just look that way because of the way the pic is formatted?

KO, Nice to see you back! Have you thought about changing your name?

Hey Jed, I'm not sure about his legs. Maybe he's just short? I just emailed you the originals.

Tim,
Been a long time. How's life? How's the new business? How is my name sake...hehe? Hey, that is a nice bull. Is he in the unit you and I have spent some time filming together in, if you remember? Send me an email at [email protected] and give me your #, we'll catch up.

Scott,
Just spent time in Utah last weekend. No big boys but looking forward to the hunt. Just talked to Jed last night about it. You gonna make it?

Jed,
Don't you know that bull is from the Arizona "Dwarf Leg" sub-species. At least he's not part of the the other "Dwarf" sub-species. Those guys seem to have a hard time breeding if you know what I mean!!

Cade

If you get one like that handsome fellow, make sure you score him with SCI specs! God gave him all those beautiful points and everyone should count -- IMHO! Nice shots!

Cade,

I'm headed to Utah to scout next weekend! Can't wait! If you can make it...you're more than welcome to come along. Jed said that you are doing all the cooking this year! lol
