I am trying to make up my mind to go DIY,or get a guide for this hunt,IF I get lucky and get my tag.I haven't hunted Arizona before, but have had success in Elk Hunting the Gila in New Mexico.I understand that they have had a tremendous past winter & spring as far as moisture goes, and that the horns are gonna be phenominal this year. This unit borders the premier units of # 9 & 10,so I'm hoping there are some bulls in the ballpark that I am looking for.I am wanting a bull that's over 350",because I have never taken one this big YET! I only have about 2 weeks vacation,so not much room for scouting on multiple trips and hunt.I live in North Central Texas, and interested in learning all about Arizona that I can.Any pointers to help me make my decision would be greatly appreciated!Thank's,Mike T.

If you are lucky enough to drraw this tag yes you will be hunting a unit that has 350+ bulls. However they are not to be found around every corner or at every water hole. The opportunity is there to get a true trophy but it is not an automatic thing to get a shot at one of these beasts. If you have limited time to scout and have your heart set on a 350+ bull then you should probably get a good guide. that is my 2 cents anyway jim

caelkhntr,Thank's a million,I really do appreciate your willingness to help out!Mike T.

I do think a guide would be a good option. But if you do get drawn I also think there are a few of us here on MM that will at least steer you in the right direction and you might have a good chance that way as well. But I agree with the above post there are not 350+ bulls behind every tree.

Good Luck for all I know I might get the same tag and we can go out together

I would make a weekend trip over and check it out if you find alot of bulls your set. if don't find any good bulls start calling guides and hope they still have a spot.

I'm researching all that I can, before making my mind up,and am thinking about making a flying trip out there over a weekend to scout a little.I appreciate all ya'lls input, and wish you all the best on your draws also!!!>I do think a guide would
