Everybody has a hunt from "Hell"

My 2003 Archery Elk Hunt in Idaho is one that I would soon rather forget. I am sure that we have all had a hunt from hell sort of speak. We were returning to camp one afternoon with Rob directly behind me when the horse that I was one was spooked by some thing that he had seen. He let me now rather quickly that he would prefere that I not stay on his back any longer. Over the horses head I went with all my gear in hot persuit. Arrows and Bow scattered all over the mountain. Blood streaming from my head from the rocks on the way down. The area looked like somebody had just gutted an elk. Rob didn't no if he should of laughed or cried but wishes that he had some popcorn and soda for the show, and how much it was going to cost to have me stuffed and placed on the wall. I would never elk hunt with out a horse they can be a neusince at times. I would hate to pack an elk out on my back.

I've been caught up in big snow storms and had harsh rains hurdled at me but I have'nt been thrown off yet...

I'm not much of a horse hunter but we do use them at times, and at times I wish we didn't use them.

You look pretty sore in the picture. Good thing you had a doobey kickin around to smoke the head-ache away!LOL.

Your aren't the father of the kid in the "my buddies back from last night" post are you? The pose in the bottom pic looks a little suspect.

Elkster,
Saw the same thing happen to my ol' man on a high country muley hunt a few years back. When I saw the horse step on his head, I was sure my brother and I were going to be packing his body off that mountain. But, that by far wasn't our worst trip with the ol' man. Him having a severe heartattack way back in on a horse trip was by far the worst trip from Hell I've ever had.
