Don't need locations or scouting reports. As some of you know, this will be my first ever elk hunt anywhere, let alone AZ. I already have a friend who's going to take me out, and he already has a plan. I'm more interested in what to expect for this hunt (6A Mid-November ML Bull)

- Temps and weather
- Rut over I assume, so what will be the effectiveness (if any) of urine/scent, calls, etc
- A reasonable personal goal (just seeing something/anything over 300/the sky is the limit)
- Camo an aid? What patterns?
- Elk behavior that time of year

Any info, pics of 6A bulls, whatever - the more info I can get, the better. I'm pretty stoked

Marshall, give me a shout at work next week, I have a few ideas and hopefully a couple others on here can help out. This is an opportunity for you that I know you have been hoping for quite some time. There are a few guys on here like Bugler or AZ402 that can give you a couple spots. Also talk with Predator and read her thread on 6A.......... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Thats a good hunt. I like it alot. Your weather can range from hot and dry to snowing like a mother. Be prepared for anything.Theres alot of good bulls on this hunt.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-24-05 AT 08:44PM (MST)[p]Marshall:

I'll be hunting cows in 6A with my bow in late Sept, and my oldest son has a Junior cow tag there in mid-Oct.

I'll let you know what we find during our scouting/hunting. ;-)

I hunted it last year and took a small six point. The elk were in the timber and fairly hard to glass. The roads were all pretty much muddy and in my opinion road hunting is pretty useless. The lower elevation areas (piynon) were more open and also more crowded, so we still hunted the eastern part, higher elevation timbered areas.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-24-05 AT 09:08PM (MST)[p]Marshall, It is a fun hunt for sure. We've taken some real respectable bulls on that hunt. When it gets closer, I'll shoot you a PM, they'll move a bunch between now and then...........Stan
