I was just wondering if an where there would be (if Any) elk near this place, Park City, UTAH. I will be there for a conferance Sept.24-28 so I was wondering if there were any of those areas that hold BIG MONSTER BULLS OF UTAH in that general area. Being that it is late Sept. this should be a good time to be out in Elk Country. Appreciate the help.

I have been working in that area for a couple of years now. During that time of the year I have seen some good bulls just west of Kimball Junction by the Ecker Hill Middle school. This is right by the High Ute Ranch just off the freeway. We are now working out at the junction of Highway 40 and SR 248. Have seen a few bulls glassing southwest on the ski runs. My buddy drives up Interstate 80 from Ogden daily and sees nice bulls by jEcho reservoir. In any case, you must be out looking before the sun shows or they're headed to bed.

I would have to say there are elk around PC but not any of the LE units with the big boys you are refering to. Maybe someone else has better info for you. My suggestion would be have a few "pops" then go ride the alpine slide and see if you can make it to the bottom without useing the breaks. Lots of fun. Oh yea the Mtns around PC are beautiful in Sept.

Thanks alot guys. I just hear lots of stories about these huge bulls in Utah and was wondering if I would be in the general area. I will be there for a GIS conferance (SWUG). I will definately mark these area on a map and check out where you are talking about. What else is there to do in this area of Utah?
Thanks Jeff

If you have the time, you can take a road trip to Strawberry Reservoir. It's about 30-45 min from Park City out on highway 40. Take your pole as there are some nice cuts and bows in the lake. There also so dandy bulls up in that area but as I don't hunt that country I can't give any help in that respect. Now if you have a day and a half to kill I'll set you onto some dandy bulls in Central Utah but it's about a three, three and a half hour drive from PC.
