Just curious if anyone is familiar with the Mt Hood Wilderness areas (Salmon-Huckleberry, Bull Of The Woods) for archery elk?
I'm from out of state and I would like to get info on those areas.

Regards,

Matt ~

Matt,
I will be hiking Mt Hood Wilderness tomorrow on a day hike, was there last weekend also. Its really ugly country, lots of clearcuts and big timber, also steep. I've never hunted much in this area even though its only 45 minutes from my house. Most people would rather hunt east side of state for Rocky Mtn elk, I think the Mt Hood/Bull of the Woods is kinda a mix depending on area of Rocky Mtn or Roosevelt elk but I could be wrong. I know Bull of the Woods has some huge bulls that probably die of old age because its too hard to hunt. I'd be happy to share some areas to check but can't give you too many pointers since I don't hunt it, plus I'm a rifle hunter. Anyway, I will be hiking a bunch more the next couple of weeks, if I should see any nice areas or bulls will shoot you an email.
Thanks
Frank

Can anyone give me some info on hunting elk this archery season. Some good rocky mountain elk areas would be good, but also interested in bagging myself a good sized roosevelt. any info is appreciated
