Elk-deer hybrid

Sure it wasn't just a HUGE MULIE.
seriously, I have seen them bounce when coming up to water holes,
typicaly when there's ladies there that they are trying to impress,

I am sure. I watched him for at least 10 minutes total. He was about 100 yards in good light when he started. He did it for at least 20 seconds. He was in a park moving away from me. Not hurrying much. Of the many elk I've seen I don't recall seeing that before. He didn't get the elevation of a mulie. But he did plant all four feet at the same time. Ken

He was an orphaned elk calf, taken in by unscrupulous mule deer who made him clean the beds, chase off the coyotes and all the other unpleasant tasks of mulies. He grew up with only mule deer as role models. Don't hold it against him. He had no choice.

I was with black timber last weekend and seen a cow do the bounce off thing at 30 yrds...she was for sure alerting the other elk still in the timber with the bounce.
