Looking for some feed back. I was drawn for a late muzzleloader hunt in Idaho unit 61.Since then I was told by a couple of people that it was not a very good hunt. What do you guys think. Thanks Don

Since the cow hunt is general, and you were drawn, then you must have put in for the ES tag for a reason. Shoot a big bull, right? Good luck! It can be very weather dependant in some areas, and the elk may have already run for the desert. If you get too much, then the snowmachines are everywhere. Be prepared for lots of people, but most are really road hunting. I hunted it last year and passed up a lot of cows, and never saw a bull. I did see a huge wolf over on the Big Springs side, which was pretty cool to watch. My son shot a cow the year before right out of Spencer, and that side up to Porcupine Pass is very popular.

Thank you Blank for the reply. You are right.I am only looking for a good bull.I think I will wait and see what the weather does. Thanks Don

I'll second what blank said.
I've been on a couple hunts in unit 61 using the Island Park A tag. IMO it would be a mistake to pass on a rag horn unless you are willing to eat your tag. There are also 800 tags for the any weapon either sex 60* tag so don't think you are going to be in the woods alone. Few hunters walk more than 1/2 mile from a road. I've hunted it in snow and in no snow and in some ways would preffer hunting it before there was snow on the ground.
