North Dakota Elk

I have an elk tag in zone E2 in North Dakota. The season is from October 7th to the 30th and November 18th to December 18th. The only problem is that this will be my first elk hunt (and my only one in ND). The question I have is how do you go about hunting elk in this time period? All the hunting will be in a badlands terrain. Thanks for any help.

I would think that the bulls might still be a little vocal early in October. I would go a few days early and find a bull, then plan on getting him early. Find high points to glass from. Good luck.

I thought I might be able to help you out, but I don't really know that unit. I worked for the Forest Service for 3 summer seasons, but only in Golden Valley, Billings, and Slope counties. I'm just curious - which part of the unit are you planning on hunting, McKenzie, or Dunn county - I work for the Soil Conservation District in Dunn county and I could possibly be of a little help if thats where you plan on hunting. Good Luck, let's see a picture of him after you get him.

Have you talked with anyone who has had that tag in the past? I know of a few lucky guys who have hunted that season, if you want their contact info let me know and I can pass it on. Good luck! NDhunter.
