My 12 year old son and I drew unit 10 late bull tags. I was hoping someone that has hunted this unit or knows something about it could help.

Thanks

Try the AZGF website for answers or e-scout.com-enter your unit!

Deercrazy,

Congrats on your tags. Just ignore people like born2bcomplaining, they don't ever seem to have anything valuable to add. I also drew an archery elk tag in Arizona and there are tons of people willing to help you out with info, etc. The "poor-me" attitudes aren't the norm, just a small minority who try to make themselves feel better by making others feel bad.

PM me if you'd like some more info, I'd be happy to let you know what I know.

Thanks,
Corey

You are exactly right, i recieved the same attitude toward me on my Arizona draw.

Gentlemen,

Don't shy away from asking for help on the forum. Sure there will be a few that give you a hard time when ones first post is one asking for help! It's usually helpful to offer some sort of help in a unit that you are familiar with too, in the same post.

Unit 10 is a tough one. If I had info on it, that would mean I would have hunted there in the past. I sadly say that isn't the case. I've yet to draw an AZ premium hunt, for elk or deer.

Sometimes it is good to wait for the successful archers to tag then hit them up for any leads. A lot of times they might lead you to a big one that got away.

Good luck to all you AZ hunters...you lucky few!

born2bhuntin,

Thanks for the info I had no idea that web site even existed. I was able to reserve my hotel, rental car and book a flight, you saved me a lot of time. If I can ever return the favor just let me know.

I actually had to check out the site!
Thought you were serious!

Chef,

Sorry about that and your right about the sarcasm. I just couldnt help myself. I will try and restrain myself in the future.

Thanks

DeerCrazy- My friend and I both drew the late bull hunt in 10. This will be my first elk hunt, I am not real familiar with the unit( I have gone up scouting twice in the past month and plan to make at least two more trips prior to the hunt. My next trip will be Sept 12th and 13th.
I hunting whitetails in Illinois for many years, but am relatively new to hunting in Arizona. I still have alot to learn, but I would be glad to share my limited knowledge with other hunters such as you and your son. Feel free to e-mail me [email protected]
I would also appreciate knowledge/tips from any others willing to share. We are all hunters--Right???

The hunt in Unit 10 should be very good this year. Lots of bulls in the mid-300's and some better. The Williams corner on the Kaibab National Forest should be good for bulls. Try Hearst Mtn, Mesa Tank, Paradise Ridge. The center portion of the unit is good around Mt Floyd, Trinity (but not on the mountain itself), Big Bud, Roger's Draw, Sullivan, Ferguson, Long Point, Bishop Lake Plateau. The Aubrey Cliffs hold some good bulls as does Cataract Canyon and the Coconino Plateau. Pick a spot and go hunt, there will be bulls nearby. Don't shoot the first little bull you see and watch out for broken antlers. The area surrounding Rose Well is likely to be closed to vehicle travel again this year but only the western 2/3 of the area closed last year. Foot access into this area will be permitted. No ATV's and don't bring horses.

I have to agree with Chef their are people willing to help I have actually had someone who has an archery tag in the same unit as we have helping us out with info. We flew out this past weekend scouted and went by their camp and visited. Thanks to all of those that have sent me info hope to have some pictures to post when we get back.

thanks for sharing some info aztap...i drew a unit 10 cow/ meat hunt for october and all people talk about is the b - ranch and cataract canyon...the tips are appreciated but its always good to have options.

For the best chance at nice bulls, I would hire a local guide, BUT if that's not your cup of tea, here's some info. I have been on the hunt twice in the last few years.

It can and probablly will be hard, lots of people with too much country to see in a week. I would recommend the Aubrey Cliffs area north of Seligman. Lots of country still, but a good place to narrow down to. Hunt on top of the cliffs and the surrounding area north. A few water holes and rolling hills to the right side of the Pica Camp road 9first major right turn when you get on top). You'll see bulls in there. Second area would be around round mountain, but there's lots of private land in there. good luck, I can recommend a good guide if you become interested (heck, for the price of gas anymore that could be worth the $). Whatever you decide, look to the Aubrey country, you'll like it.
