Any good heads for Elk!

Like i have said in another post. Its my first elk hunt! I need opinions on broadheads!

I will be using 100 gr Magnus Stingers, on my hunt in New Mexico later this month.

There are many good ones out there that will do the job.

Good Luck

Eddie

My hunting buddy shot 2 animals with the montecs and wasn't too impressed. His take was they flew extremely well but lacked a great cutting edge. He switched to stingers.

Killed 16 Bulls with Thunderhead 100s. Very effective for me. Never tried any others.

hopefully your bow is set up by now! Shoot the broadheads to see how they fly.
thunderhead 100 or muzzy 3 or 4 blade
Cant go wrong with them.
Are you new to bowhunting? IF you have bowhunted deer, just use the same broadheads that have worked for you in the past, otherwise try the above.

125g 3-blade Muzzys do it for me and as long as they keep making 'em, I doubt I'll ever change. The Muzzys have been the best I have tried so far. I have shot Thunderhead 100's & 125's, Razorback 100's, Vortex 100's, Satellite Mag 125's, Wasp SST 125's, Rocky mountain Premier 100's,

100 grain Thunderheads all the way. Have worked great for me on bulls and bucks. good luck hunting, Hatrick

There are three main steps to putting the SMACK DOWN on elk, or deer for that matter. Choosing a broadhead can help a little. First tune your bow. Second choose the right spine weight arrow for your poundage and draw length, match the right tip weight to your arrow, it's called front of center ballancing. Third tune your broadheads to your arrows by spin testing, make sure there is no wobble. Then your broadheads should fly the same as field tips. My advice on tips is stay away from mechanicals! Go with a strong fixed blade, Muzzy's, Innerloc's, Thunderheads's etc.
Good Luck DBLung

Ryan,
All the broadheads above are good, but also if you want accuracy with less tuning try NAP Spitfire or Spitfire XP. This is the only expandable broadhead i will shoot at Big game..
Even though they say you shouldn't use expandable for big game. You will be impressed with the penetration you will get. shoot straight ->>>------------>

The Spitfire XP is what I use for deer! How many elk have you killed with this head?

rocky mountain turbo 100's or the spitfire. I use the rocky mountain turbo, smaller cutting diameter than the spitfire but flys awesome and cuts through big game great, My buddy drilled a 5 point last year with the rocky mountain 100 and the elk didnt go over 50 yards.

Ryan,
I've killed 2 Elk with this head. I past through a bull @ 52 yds with this head.
