Spent the first 4 days of the season up around Peaches Ridge lookin' for a cow for me and a bull for my buddy. Saw 4 different six-bys could only get as close as 75 yds. on two different ones. Just not comin' quite all the way in to the cow calls.....bugling pretty good though. I had a cow at 51 yds. and had to make a split decision, shoot or not? How far? As I knocked the arrow she bolted....no big deal. Tough shot.

Anyway....thought I'd show a few pics

There's actually 22 Billy Goats right in the middle of that hill....could not zoom em' in.

Sorry no elk pictures, took all those with the Camcorder. Headed back Wednesday for the weekend. Hopefully have some animal pics.

That looks nice, I bet the snow was a welcome site, except for the fog. I know of one bull taken and another buddy stuck a 6x6 and still looking for it in rimrock. except they found a gut pile about 1000 yards from where he shot it so hes not sure whats going on.

Crazy weather fluctuations!

Nice looking country.
Good luck to you and your buddy.

Nice pic's...thanks for sharing!

I drew the Peaches Ridge rifle tag this year...first time I've been w/o my bow on an elk hunt in a while. I live in Snoqualmie but have not hunted the Peaches Ridge unit much as it's tough to draw the tag. Anyways...I was wondering if you had any advice to share as to where to look for a good bull.

Thanks.

PS: Wish I could have seen that group of goats...very cool.

Stickslinger.....welcome to MM. Just got back from 4 more days over there....I'll send you a PM when I get a chance.

Stickslinger,
Your a lucky man. I checked the success rates for that permit. Its looking good for you. I wish I got that lucky. Three years in a row now with no luck in drawing any special permit tags. Let us know how big an elk you shooot.

In six days of hunting over there, two different trips....we saw 12 6pt. or better, ie. 6x7, 7x7, handful of 5pts. and raghorns, and a few spikes. To get within bow range of some of those animals is a different story....country is very steep. I think your chances of finding elk are pretty darn good....just gotta be prepared to get one out of there.

Muleyslyr,

Great pictures. Sounds like you've had great success locating some nice critters. Hope all goes well.

My brother, father, and I drew the Peaches Ridge rifle tag. My brother and I are really hoping Dad gets an opportunity to harvest a nice bull. I know the elk in that area can move around drastically, but if your willing to provide some advice I would be very appreciative.
