The 12th was a magical day in the woods the bulls were screaming all over from 4 to about 9
i heard this one and started moving in on him after about 300yds i heard cows below me and saw a glimps of the bull
at 70yds or so but didnt have time to range him so i started flanking him 10min later i busted a calf and thought the gig was up but hit the hoochie mama immedieately and diddnt hear the herd run off. right after that i heard horns raking a tree about 50yds below me but coulnt see anything in the thick understory. i thought i would just try to passs him and get between hima nd cows so i did and could here the cows to the north and the bull still raking to the sw. he raked for about 10 min and gave me enough time to sneak in to abuot 15 yds from him when i finally saw some horns but still no shot so i waited
couple minutes later i could see hem move and he headed toward his cows at 16-18yds from me. I cow called when he hit the opening and i took him 4 more steps before he stopped. this put him behind brush. I had my bow drawn and was trying frantically to find a hole to shoot threw[this is where the 3d stuff pays off] i found a slot and zipped an arrow through him
5 inches behind the shoulder blade on the right side and trhought the shoulder blade on the left side and another 12 yards and buried the montec in a tree.

he went 10 yards and stopped and i called then he ran up 10 and back down 15 and i heard him crash and gasp his last.
he was on the ground in about 15 seconds and dead in 20 - 30 seconds. my biggest bull and for w wash a pretty nice one

not sure of the score but were thinking about 310
he is pretty heavy all the way up

i was backpacked in 3.5 miles and got him a little farther than that. packed him to a trail then went and got a friend with horses.
dont know how old he was but had teeth on each side worn down to the gum line.
good luck everyone else.

I know its not a very good pic - ill have more back later

Nice bull, congrats on him and the hard work to get him out. Cant tell how long his main beams are, but I'd say you are being conservative with the 310 score.

Nice bull. Good to see some big one here on the west side. Got tired (jealous) of hearing about all the Utah and Colorado bulls. Good Work!

thanks guys
i put the tape to him today and came up with
326.5 gross about 11 in deducts
of course this is me scoring but it gets it pretty close.
definately one to remember forever.

geez, bone....that's a good bull in any state, let alone wash...
congratulations, and great story...i gotta wait till the 24th of october...seems like an eternity...would love to see more pics, when you get a chance...

Congrats from someone else trying the west side with a bow. I'd be happy with any elk, you took a monster! I'm sure it was due to hard work. Congratulations!!!
