I have been out with my brother in 3A/3C on the bull hunt. So far we are really fighting the combination of wind, full moon, and heat to having a pretty slow hunt so far. Elk aren't too active once the sun comes up and not responding well to calling. There is still a lot of water around from monsoon rains, so tank sitting hasn't been very successful either. Passed a few small bulls that have come to calls but nothing exciting. How is everyone else doing in the great state of AZ

Sorry guys, I just talked with my brother and they scored on a nice bull this morning. Souns like we were hunting in the wrong part of the unit for two days before they received a nice tip yesterday on where some action was happening. The rut activity was night and day from where we hunted Fri. and Sat. I hope to have some details soon.

MY hunt is 17a 17b area . People call it the hunt from hell. Got in the middle of 3 bull buggling yesterday before dusk no cows. Ive seen those three bull but no cows with. Wish we had some freek cold streek come in the next couple days and they would start ruttin, I guess the full moon is really messin with them too. But its wonderful being out with thoses bulls listening to that aseome buggling!!! good luck!!!!>>>>>>>>>>Sharlin..Congrats to your bro!!! Seen 1 400 and 402 so far come into the shop. I knew it it was going to be a good year.

it was a nice bull I helped them pack it out. he has great 4ths probably 23 and 25 inches . nice mass and good 3rds about 13 -14 inches and pretty good 5ths brow and bez tines were nice as well. trent did an awsome job and passed many bulls until he got a shot at this one .

I saw the same thing on my Archery Elk hunt last year. One end of the unit we only saw elk just minutes before the sun went down. On the other end of the same unit they were up walking all day long, ruttin'-n-callin' all day (a little slower in the mid day but still active).
