Unit 12 NM rifle hunt

i got a unit 12 rifle hunt oct 1-5 just wanted some idea on where to go.

How did your hunt go? I bought a late season bow tag and am in the same boat your were. Do you have any info as t where to go?

If i were in those shoes I would start by getting a BLM map of the area. Unit 12 has lots of private that are joined by state lease. They have to let you hunt state lease, but if you do not know where it is then you r SOL. next step print out the land owner tag sheet for unit 12 and look at the RO or UW unit wide ranches have a contract with game and fish that states because there tags are unit wide they need to let you on their property. if they do not call the local game officer and he should be able to get the gates opened. start there

What Rockn said. During the rut there was great big toads runing allover the unit from Quemado to the Zuni line chasing cows and bugling. I haven't been back since.

Found the list. About 21 ranches that are UW, Does that only work during certain hunts? Or is that a courtesy the ranchers are agreeing to throughout the season? Do you know or should I contact G&F

as far as I understand it is for all hunts for that species. although it would not hurt to call g&F to confirm.
