A buddy shot this elk in the books last weekend. 311 yards with a .300 win mag/Barnes 180 triple shock.

Nice bull and shot. So how did the 180 grain Barnes Triple Shock do? Full penetration? Mushroom?
I am using it on my NM Rifle Elk hunt in my 300WSM.

AWESOME!! Can you please also give me the info on the bullet and load. My dad and I bought some today to load up for our hunts. I have heard nothing but great things about the triple shock, can't wait to try them for myself. Please let me know hs load if you can. Travis

The bullet went clean through it, but unfortunately, I wasn?t able to recover it.

I load his bullets for him, so your in luck. We spent alot of time developing this load and it may not shoot as good in your gun, but it has shot good in another .300 so who knows..

75gr Rel 22/CCI mag primers/bullet seated .015 off the lands. (He shoots a Browning and the bullets still fit in his clip, but just barely.)

We both use Leupold 4.5x14 with BDC's installed, and we have been shooting rocks out as far out as 1200 yards with great success. (I shoot a .300 UM)
