Real nice bull. Thanks for posting it. They say that every picture tells a story but I would like more story than your picture tells. Where? How?

No Gut's...No Story!!!

OK heres the story.
On thursday evening I took an old road that my grandpa used to use to hall lumber off the mountian. I was supposed to meet my cousin where we had seen a couple of good bulls a couple days earlier. I was about half way up the mountian when I seen an elk run down the hill and stop. I then herd a bugle above and glassed and there was a 7X7 bull that would probably go 370 to 380, he had about 20 cows with him. I watched them until just before dark and watched the cows start to bed and backed out of the area. I took the video and showed my cousin and he wanted to go after him frist thing the next morning.

We got within a quarter mile of where the bull was and shut the wheelers off and instantly herds bulls bugleing where I had left them. We hiked to the area and it was still not light enough to see. I told him we had better wait for it to get light before we tried to get closer. Light finally came and we could see the 7X7 running a small 6X6 away from his cows. His wife ranged him at 500 yards. Wanting a closer shot we moved in and could hear him but could never see him again. I did some cow calling trying to make him think he left some cows but he just got farther away. The bull he shot kept bugleing back to us and then stepped out into the open and he was heavy and had a good front end but not the bull we came after. We looked him over and decided he was worth taking and he took the shot at 301 yards. The bull went about 15 yards and went down.

We have both been trying to draw this hunt for over 20 years so it was a dream come true for him and I was lucky enough to be able to go with him. This was a Utah LE hunt and we seen several bulls as good or better but passed on the first few days and one he missed that will haunt him forever because I won't let him forget.
