Let me clear it up, I shot at first light, felt good about it, had a guy on the binos call it as a hit. We started up the mountain towards him. It took us the better part of an hour to get there through the steepness and thick oak brush. Got to the scene of the crime and looked for sign for a while. Didnt find any sign of a hit, so we decided to follow the herd tracks into the pines. I stayed back to look for blood some more. My 2 buds were gone bout 20 minutes when I heard a shot. I got up to them as quick as I could, thinking they had finished him off. That wasnt the case, this particular Bull was feeding very comfortably when they shot, so I either missed or this was a different bull.
We found 2 little specks of blood in the pines, and spent the next 5 hours looking for more. We never found any other sign, so we spread out and headed down the draw, thinking if he was hurt bad, he would head downhill. Well we never found him or any more sign, so we went back up the mountain to look for blood where I originally shot. Nothing there either. Go figure....We both get shots and some home empty handed. Oh well, there is always next week....Hey D13r, you sayin youve never missed or wounded? if so, you are the best hunter the world has ever seen, cut a kid some slack, hes one of us....
