Any reports from the Jarbidge area or area 71. Heading there in a couple of weeks. The biologist said the herds look very strong with exceptional horn growth this year. The tags have been so limited in the past, it has been difficult getting any information on the area. Any pointers on the area would be appreciated.

Herds are strong. They have had a lot of pressure this year. They are moving into more remote areas. Some have broken tines already. PM for more information

n2chukar---I'm going deer hunting this week in the Jarbidge. What is the temp difference between Elko and the mountains? Also, how are the deer looking this year?
Thanks, Warren

Greg ,
Try the Merrit mountain area , Mcdonald creek drainage , good bulls with alot of cover.

Sorry about the late reply -- your probably already in the field. The difference in the temps can be extreme, but it can be either way. I've left the mountains with the sun shining and I have driven into ELko with snow coming down -- jst be prepared.

I saw one nice buck on our Elk trip. I was in an area where the bucks were great years ago, but the health of the Elk herd has diminished the numbers. I do know where a nice heavy horned 5 point buck is located...
