Utah's General Elk Muzz Hunt

OK, I've done this hunt a couple of times and I have mixed feelings about it. Has anyone out there had any real good success for branch antlered bulls on this hunt? (Other than on private ground) It just seems that by the time this hunt rolls around, the elk have either moved to Indian ground or private property. Are there still any good public areas to hunt with elk still on it? On the south slope, will the big ole boys still be up high pushing snow?? The only reason I ask is because out of all the guys that I know who have hunted this hunt, no body has really had any good success on public stuff.

Shot a 5 pt. first day up there. Passed 7 other bulls that day. A freind missed a spike and another friend could have shot a small rag horn. This was all on the south slope public ground.

HornyMan, it's good to hear of some success stories. Did you have to go far back to get um? Is this hunt very popular anymore. It seemed everyone wanted to draw the ML300 tag but now that you can get them over the counter has anything changed with more or less hunter numbers?

We had horses but ended up seeing the animals 1-2 miles or so in.
