Anyone else having some good luck these last few days? Me and my brother went out yesterday, and we found 13 mule deer sheds. We only ended keeping 6 of them though. The biggest shed my brother found and its a 76" typical 4 pt, that was dropped about 3 years ago. I found 2 fresh sheds, 1 4 pt off a 2.5 yr old buck that scores 61", and 1 3 pt with a non typical sticker coming off the side and that shed scores about 71". The other sheds were really nice too, they were all 3 points or bigger. I also found 1 big non-typical that was dropped 3 years ago but it was chewed too badly to keep.
Two days before this trip i went into the same area and picked up 5 sheds, and the trip before i picked up 4, so im having a pretty good season so far here in BC.
Anyone else have some good luck this weekend?

Matt,

Sounds like you guys found some dandy's.I went out this morning but didn't do any good, the grass is starting to get to high around here.

Bucksnort, Thats too bad your weekend wasnt as good as mine. The grass here in BC is just sprouting, and its been snowing on me everytime ive gone shed hunting in the last week! So i should have at least a few good weekends left. It looks like this next hunting season will be a good one in BC, out of the 5 fresh sheds ive found the smallest scores 54" and its a giant 2 pt. The rest are 60+ with 3 breaking the 70" mark. The best thing about these sheds is that where they winter, is pretty much the same area as they summer. So they shouldnt be too tough to find!

Good luck in future sheddin trips!

Matt

I only found one 5-point elk antler this weekend. The blood at the base was still red, brown antler and south facing ridge so I assume it just dropped?

I think the rest of the herd moved down a canyon and then higher up the next mountain and dropped them at their other "dropping area". I have to drive in a different way to get over there.

They typically drop them near the south facing top of one mountain or the other. Musta been the other...
