Colo. northwest 3rd season

Any reports on how the elk hunting was in Northwest Colorado during the 3rd season on public ground.

Just got back, hunting was tough. Warm weather kept the elk up high or on private ground. In addition the elk were scattered. I saw a few cows taken off of unit 23 with only a couple of bulls. One nice 5 point and one small 4 point raghorn. Weather sucked didn't even need to turn on the heater in the trailer.

Too hot and not enough snow, harvest will be down from previous years.

Thanks for the report. We were going to go but changed our minds when we saw the weather forecast. Another group I know just got back and saw very little.

Good golly, how many seasons does Colorado have?

Four Rifle seasons plus all of the late hunts. One blackpowder and one archery. We try and keep the critters stirred up from late August to late December.
