I just received a pair of 10x42 SLC bino's as a gift, I am thinking of upgrading to the EL's for an additional $470.00 Are they worth the additional money?

Is 3.2 oz and .21" less than a 1/4" worth that much, that is your decision to make.
The FOV is the same at 6.3 degees.

If it was a gift, be happy and don't offend the person who bought them for you. Next time you might not be so lucky in gifts.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-27-04 AT 12:13PM (MST)[p]I personally don't think the EL's are worth the price difference. I'd use the SLC's and never look back. You've got world class glass, with the best part being they didn't cost you a dime...how sweet is that!

I agree with Kilowatt and Foreman. I've got the SLC's and have used the EL's and don't see any reason to upgrade. Be happy, very happy.

If you have the money go for it.I love my 10x EL's.Sold my 15x56 SLC's to get the EL's.All the improvements are worth it,especially the weight.
The present was given to you to do with what you want. But it might depend on who got them for you.

With out a doubt trade them in for the el's
I own 10\42 slc 10\42 el and 15\56
the only pair that leaves all the time with me is the el's and the 15s
I have personally done a comparison and the el's are brighter
you have to look thru the el's for about an hour or so and than switch to the slc's and you will definately notice the differance
BUY the EL's

I personally prefer the EL's. But you cannot take anything away from the slc's. When I was shopping for optics I took every kind of binocular they had outside. I narrowed everything down to the Leica trinovids and the swaro slc's and el's with the el's being the brightest and clearest. But the slc's and trinovids were very close. If you can afford it get the very best glas you can get. As far as hurting someones feelings about upgrading the gift that they gave you is an answer you will have to find yourself. Some people wouldn't give a hoot and others would. Goodluck, fatrooster.
