Just putting some feeler's out there to see how the season went around that part of Wy. Missed this year due to deployment to Korea...can't wait till next year. Hope the season went well.

Way too many hunters. I didn't enjoy that part. But I got mine this year - a small 4X5.

A friend got one that had the broken off tip from another bull imbedded in his skull. What a trophy!

Actually you didn't miss too much as the weather was way too warm this year with hardly any snow.

Maybe I'll see you there next year if the gods of the draw send me another tag. I'll be driving a "pink" '63 CJ5 Jeep.

Have you hunted that area much?

Yea...I've hunted it from 93-99, hit and miss since then. Military life took my family and I to DC. The only way out of DC was to go to Korea for a year. I'm at the end of my career in the military with four years left. Got what I wanted and that was to go back to Cheyenne after Korea. Usually hunt archery season heavy then come back for week or so for rifle. Hunt out of the big military tents on the other side of the creek before you go up the hill to get to the wilderness area. That is base camp for me; I see it every couple days, go real deep in most of the time. My hunting partner got a good bull out of the deep stuff this year in early Sept. I take it you are a non-resident? I switched to Wy after my first year of living there...just knew the family and I would settle there. The crowds have increased over the years for sure. Most of them road hunters though, after opener they clear out good. Look forward to seeing ya next year good luck in the draw.

The crew that I hunt with hunted that area from about 90-02, due to the atv's and the huge amounts of people we have started hunting elsewhere. Over the course of twelve years we took some pretty good bulls out of the wilderness areas surrounding Battle Creek and Lost Creek Wilderness. Won't divulge exactly where as someday I may come that direction again. Anymore if I don't draw some sort of limited quota I pretty much don't hunt. I miss hunting up there, always fun hunts. I just got tired of dealing with all the people. We did take one bull in particular that scored right at 350 Net B&C about five or six years ago. I grew up in Rawlins so it was the natural choice for me to hunt this area. Spent many weekends camping, building fence, fishing, and hunting up there. I moved away from Rawlins, THANK GOD, about four years ago and haven't been back since.
