Cow hunt unit 13 (NM)

Anyone hunt this unit this year. Headed out on Sat for a cow hunt. Only had time to scout one time. Was just wondering if anyone had been out for the bull hunt or for the deer hunt. Any info would be great thanks.

Well I guess I dont have to worry about too much cuz no one replied or maybe I have to worry cuz no one wants to hive any tips on where to start. (LOL) Well I was worried about hunting pressure more than anything but dont think thats going to be the case. Well I guess I will post the resulst of the hunt when I get back.

Well I got my cow (no pics). Took her on the third day of the hunt. Seen about 20 cows on the hunt. Only seen one bull but man he was a monster. I would have to say 380+ bull. Wish I had a camera. Well looks like the hunting season is over for me but might take up duck hunting this winter. Only been telling myself that for the last 3 years. If not guess its fly fishing time up at the San Juan River.

Congratulations on your cow. It will be good eating.

My dad got a cow in 13 also. He shot his at about 4:30pm on the first day. He got it near the tower (east of FR 63). He only saw 2 elk (cow/calf) the entire trip.
What area did you bag yours?

Got her on forest road 100 about 2 1/2 miles in. Was back in there just walking around and jumped about 8. Shot her through both shoulders at 175 yards. 250 Barnes sabot.

Nice shot. We use Barnes sabots as well (220gr). I absolutely LOVE Barnes all copper sabots, they sure get the job done. It sure looked dry in unit 13 during the hunt even though they had some good rainfall in the late summer/early fall.
