Successful 2005 Tule Elk Hunt

Here are some pics of my California Tule elk hunt. Saw a lot of bulls, most were in areas which could not be hunted though, which is the way it goes. Had a great time and met some great people. This was my first elk hunt and I have to say that I am defiantely hooked. The bull I got isn't the biggest, but then again I could care less about numbers in a book. Pictures on my wall and good memories are all I care about. I really can't say enough good things about the guys who helped me before, during and after this hunt (CA RMEF folks and the Wildlife staff at Fort Hunter Liggett). If it weren't for them I am sure that I would not have been as successful. Here are the pics. NDHunter.

Like YD said, I too live here in CA and keep putting in for the Elk draw but nothing yet. Maybe this year I will get lucky but then too it could just be another point after the draws. LOL
Congrats to you on that hunt down there and good luck with your future hunts as well.

Great bull. Tule elk hunting is alot of fun and if you do, you are very lucky. i was fortunate enough to receive a tag from an outfitters in central CA because they lease some land from us. Killed a nice spikey. Sorry no pic.

Congrats and welcome to the Tule club, we're few and far between. ANY tule is a trophy in and of it self and you got a very nice one.

I drew a spike tag on my second try about 5 years ago (before the point system). I think the odds on that spike tag were less than 1% chance of being drawn.
