Scope Question

I just bought a 325 WSM. I have narrowd my scope choices to a 3.5 X 10 Leupold (Var x-III) or a 3 X 9 Zeiss (Conquest). Can I go wrong with either one of these and/or is there a better choice for the money out there?

Thanks.

Both are great scopes, if you want another choice look at the 1" Swarovski. I took my 3.5x10 leupold and 3x10 Swarovski out late one evening and it was no contest, the Swarovski was brighter and it's also lighter wieght. I have four of them now and love them. they used to be a couple hundred bucks more than a Leupold but I don't know if that's still the case . I'm not trying to run Leupold down they are great scopes but you can't beat German optics in scopes either, just my 2 cents.

Zeiss has a longer eye relief. I have this same scope and you can't go wrong I guess with either one, but the Zeiss was better for my eyes. Try to look through both of these at a gun store and then make your decisions.

Thanks for the help. Another question. I was reading last night about the new Redfield scopes made by Meade Lab. Does anybody know anything about these scopes?

I have always used Leupold and have been very happy. My question is, what made you decide on the 325 WSM? I am in the market for a new rifle and had decided to get a 300 mag, but then I started hearing a lot of talk about the 325. Are the ballistics better than the 300? Have you shot both calibers, and what are the differences/similarities? Is ammo readily available? Any information would be great, thanks.

The 325 is ballistically superior to the 300 and the 338 in similiar bullet weights. Winchester produces 180 Ballistic Tip, 200 Accuband and 220 Power Point. I have not shot a 300. My hunting buddy has a 338. The 338 is a great Elk rifle and if I were going to hunt Brown Bears one day, I would look hard at the 338.

If you compare the rounds on paper, the 200 accuband appears to be perfect for Elk. I just ordered a Browning A-Bolt Hunter in a left-handed gun last week. I can't wait for it to get here.
