Anyone ever hunted this unit before? I have a friend who killed a 350 class bull there last year (first riffle season). I notice the tag fee is $766 now. He wants me to put in with him this year. I was wondering if anyone out there has any info about this area.

I think 36 is one of NM better units that doesn't get alot of attention . I have never hunted it , so I don't want to give you false info on personal experiance , but I know some guys from the archery club I'm in that hunt there and they go back as often as they get drawn . I think 34 is a sleeper unit too , the 16s' , 15 , 6 and 52 get most attention . 16 and 15 produce the big boys year in and year out , 6 has a great elk herd and 52 is just popular . Not as many big bulls killed out of 52 , but theres alot of elk offering hunters alot of oppertunity , that always makes it fun too , but 52 has gotten a bit tougher to draw....NMHUNTNUTT

I assume you mean 0-13 drawing the tag, right? Anyone who is 0-13 on actual muzzy hunts in that unit needs some serious help or is way, way too picky!

I've bow hunted 36 and it is a good unit but it is one of the toughest units I've ever hunted. We hunted in the White Mt. wilderness and saw some real good bulls. My brother took a 350. If you hunt the wilderness I sure would want some horses with me because it is a long, long way back to the truck and there is nothing but deep canyons and high mountains in the wilderness. If your not in excellent phyisical shape the White Mountain Wilderness is no place to be!! Good Luck.
