WA - Willapa Hills Unit

I've been thinking of checking out the Willapa Hills unit for an archery hunt. I've noticed on the map that there's some state land in the unit but wondering about access in the rest of the unit. I've never been in the area let alone the unit. Has anyone here familiar with this unit? If so, I'd appreciate your input - especially regarding access issues.

I think this is a pretty good unit, lots of private timber company ground that they allow hunters on, lots of elk. Give a bio a call for more info.

I hunt the unit every year,on the columbia river side,
smoke pole only,lots of elk if you get off the road.
access is not an issues,any gravel road off the main
is good to go.i have never seen any monster elk my self,

(but i have heard tell).so good luck

I duck hunted a friends private land at the Willapa Delta. Private timberland comes right down to the valley in spots, just take an access road from the valley and you'll be in good country right off the bat.

I know that the weyerhauser land around Pe Ell gets shut down on occasion during archery season for fire. Been in there before they shut it down, and had the forest patroll come in and kick me out after they closed it.
