ACCORDING TO uhi'S ODDS REPORT,I EITHER HAVE 1 IN 1 ODDS OF DRAWING OR NO CHANCE IN HELL!!!

WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS THERE ARE WITH POINTS I DON'T SEE HOW I'D HAVE 1 IN 1 ODDS IN ANY LE UNIT???

NOW I'M SCREWED ON ANY OF THE TOP LE UNITS ACCORDING TO HIS ODDS,NO CHANCE IN HELL!!!

Bess, the free site will tell you everything you want to know about last year's draw. His numbers are real. You HAVE to figure in everyone's Bonus Points to get the real odds. If 20 people apply for 1 tag and those 20 people have a combined 500 bonus points then to find your real odds you would divide the 500 by your number of bonus points.

20 applicants - 500 combined bonus points. You have 0 points so you have a 1 in 500 chance of drawing, .2% chance. You have 10 points so you have a 1 in 50 chance of drawing, 2% chance. If you had 50 points then you still would only have a 1 in 10 chance of drawing, 10% chance.

The DWR book says you have a 1 in 20 chance, but that isn't true. A guy must figure in the points everyone has to get the correct odds.

As for the other book, why not spend some $$$$ on it, I hear they are raffling a tag to any member who buys the book and giving 2 free bonus points to the next 50 callers.

If you are a NR and it says you have a 1 in 1.0 chance check out the hunt number. Most of them don't offer NR tags so there is no chance. If I read this correctly.

I have a feeling when it comes right down to it all the odd books, Garths reports, and websites may as well be tossed into the fireplace in 06...especially for nonres where there are so few tags offered. With the late and premium tags offered for the first time last year and such great odds for the late "duck in a barrel" hunts it is pretty much impossible to predict where everyone is going to apply in 06.

I'm sure there are a few "faithful" hunters that will apply for the same premium LE unit until they are gray-haired and wrinkled but a lot of hunters are in pannick mode because of the new age class objectives. I just hope Utah gets their act together before it is to late and re-evaluates age class objectives so all hunters will someday have the chance of drawing an elk tag of a lifetime rather than a waiting possibly a few less years for a tag to hunt raghorns!

I don't even consider Odds anymore when I apply.

Everyone sees the same odds, no matter how 'different' they are presented.

Hunt appl. services, DWR websites, Odds services and the like are seeing the exact same odds info we all see.....and the 'best odds' units/species get hammered this year....

Last years great odds will be this years terrible odds and back and forth.....

I go for the unit/species/weapon choice I want to hunt and the hell with odds....

I hunt 2-3 states a year and have drawn 4-5 OIL tags somewheres over the last few years, res./nonres. Toss in my Mrs. tags and a few close buds tags drawn and Forget About It.... odds ...

Go for the tag/unit ya want and let it ride.... haha
