Went out bowhunting some deer this morning in an area near a fire closure. I saw 24 deer before noon, 12 of which were bucks. One was an absolute hog (4X4) that will net in the low 140's. Passed a few smaller forkies trying to get close to the hog. They're just coming into rut, so the next few weeks should be awsome. Can't wait until my next days off. Sure is nice to see that many deer after a long dry year with almost no rainfall.

Bohntr where are you hunting at that the rut is already starting? Around here the pre rut doesn't start until the last week of October and the real stuff doesn't start until about the third week of November. (Washington that is).

Good ol' California. Things are always a freak of nature around here. Generally the area I bowhunt the rut is prime about the 3rd week of October.
