I was thumbing through my Cabelas catalog looking at spotting scopes and saw what looks to be a good deal on the Burris Landmark 20-60 X 80 spotting scope. Can anyone tell me how the Burris spotting scopes compare to Leupold, Nikon, and all the others in that price range? Does anyone have one of these scopes?

I have the Burris 18-45 Constant Focus scope. This scope has done everything that I want it to.
I have read a decent review of the scope you are speaking of, but I cannot recall the author nor can I recall the magazine.

Good Luck, this is a good forum to ask questions about equipment.

I have a Landmark 20-60. Very pleased with it and it didn't cost me a second mortgage......

For the money it is the best on the market in that price range. Over all it is very light wieght compared to those other brands mentioned and mine came with a light wieght tripod. The tripod is awesome because it is micro-adjustable. The only down side is when you sit next to your buddy with a sworvoski at low light you see the differences big time. I never go into the hills with out mine. I have spotted deer bedded a couple miles away with it!

I have that scope and love the optical quality and clarity.
Last winter I spotted a herd of bull elk from over 5 miles and was able to see the horns on the larger ones. I also was able to get a good idea of the size of a 4-pt buck from 1.5 miles away (count tines and judge width).

I will say one thing that I don't like about it, the size. It is a large scope and doesn't travel well. It stays in the pickup or on the bike. My other problem with it is that the tripod attachment is way too far back and so the scope is very front heavy and hard to keep steady on a cheap tripod. You can read the review on the scope on the Field and Stream or Outdoor life product review web page. For the money though the scope is great and sufficient for everything I have done. Before this one I had a 120$ tasco scope and this scope for less than a hundred dollars more is a much better scope by far. I am considering upgrading to a different scope and was going to ebay this one. If you are really interested in getting this particular scope drop me a line.
