winter kill

THE WDFW IS A TOTAL JOKE

I WATCHED THE HEARINGS ON THE NEW SEASONS AND THE PEOPLE MANAGEING THIS STATES WILDLIFE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

SOME MEMBERS OF THE GREGIORE APPOINTED COMMISION HAVE NEVER BEEN HUNTING YET THEY SEE FIT TO VOTE ON THE FUTURE OF OUR STATES WILDLIFE.

I GUESS THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN DEMOCRATS TRY AND MAKE CHOICES FOR THE REST OF US BECAUSE THEY KNOW BETTER.

so what.
sence the first of 2006
16,666 trafic deaths,
3,856 muders
833,033 cancer victoms
2,333,450 deaths from aids.

who cares about stinking elk.
who really gives a rats ass about a few elk dieing of natural causes.

Take a look at the people that have given their lives to keep yours alive.
Those are lives that you should be greatfull for.

sure didn't mean anything negative, just thought it would be something to look at if you were bored at work, like me.

i sure value the lives of people who have given there's up for me a lot more than a few elk
nevermind then.

Dang Elkmaster, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or what? This is a hunting forum for people who share an interest in hunting and wildlife. There are much bigger problems in the world than any of the things we talk about here, but we do talk about them since it interests us. I do care about the elk, but that doesn't mean I don't care about any of the other things going on in the world.
What's going on with the elk on Mt. St. Helen's is tragic because it should have never happened. There are people who's job it is to manage the wildlife, and it's a shame that these elk suffer because these people won't do their job properly or have their hands tied by politicians.

Ditto nmtaxi.. I sure didn't see that one coming.

sorry guys,
I am a firm beliver in letting nature happen.
what are you going to do feed them.
if so take out your tractors and plant those hills full of grass and weeds.
don't let the goverment stop you.
Bet you could also claim the area as set-aside and get paid.
gee-wilicurs boys and girls,
lets get real.
you feed one you feed them once you feed them forever.
just look at what we grow in the inner cities.

rats breath.

Sorry? yeah I bet you are. Ill also bet your bitter, perhaps ill, so I recommend you find some professional help before you become more ill. There is a time to let nature take its course and then theres a time to intervene. Perhaps thats hard for you to understand.

huh, I wasn't aware there was only 1 solution, feed them, and that therefore the whole discussion was stupid. Silly me. I thought maybe they could MOVE some of the elk. Maybe they could Kill some of them outright and give the meat to food banks. Maybe they could increase tags in border areas of the reserve. Maybe they could attempt to drive some of them off the park to areas that are hunted. Or even maybe feed them for right now until they come up with the proper population control solution so as not to waste the resource in the interim?

But then I thought, feed them once you always feed them so let them die.

66 elk. Some no doubt were claves so lets just average it out to 200 lbs of meat per animal. I wonder if hungry people could have put a use to 13,200 pounds of elk meat?

Nah, just let it rot. It's nature.

I saw talk on another forum of relocating "displaced" predators to this area and the loo-wit. problem bears, cougars and someone even mentioned the -w- word. this was just talk, but the guy said he heard it from some group.

Holly crap 101, somebody piss in your wheaties? The 66 elk they are talking about all came out of the river bottom, nobody has counted the dead Elk on the hills yet. I don't thik anybody said anything about feeding these Elk I think that sence this is a hunting site they were thinking the WDFG might give up a couple extra tags in the surrounding units or relocate some critters if the herd can't sustain itself on the natural forage. I can understand some winterkill but were not talking about a herd of thousands were talking 600 animals.

Wow, some ugly things here!! What I would like to know is why not take out so many elk and send the meat to food shelters to feed starving people, instead of letting them starve and waste. I too believe in nature, but we have limited the area for the elk, and also the prediters. I too am grateful for our men and women fighting for us, but that does not mean that we can not feel for animals that slowly slowly die. I know several people that went an saw the animals, It was like they died in small groups and you could see the struggle they had. I say fire the A-holes that can't do their job and bring in someone that knows nature, hunting, and farming. To waste good a animals is a shame, there is more than 100 animals dead, that is not what I want to show my grandson do you?

Besides that not to far East from that 2 indians were bragging that they took out 17 Bulls from the winston Creek area, I'm sure they used all of the animals, another WASTE!! I'm sure they were being stuarts of the land, that is why they must bring in animals because they slaughter their own herds. I was just sick to hear this. Last time people found only the back straps taken. I work hard to pay for the rights I have and it makes me mad that everyone is not equal, if they want to hunt fine obey the laws, and use what you take!!

Okay enough of that! sorry it just makes me mad to think of this kind of stuff!

They could give me a tag and I could harvest me an elk. I sure wouldn't waste any meat. Yum Yum!!!
