MY OLDEST SON TOOK A REAL DECENT 4X4 WITH NICE MASS, WE SPOTTED HIM AT DAYBREAK ABOUT 550 YRDS AWAY, WE HAD NO WAY TO PUT A SNEAK ON 'EM. SO HE DECIDED TO TAKE A SHOT AT THE BUCK, YA I KNOW THAT'A LONG SHOT, MY RANGE FINDER WOULDN'T EVEN REGISTER THAT FAR.

WELL MY SON'S NOT A REAL GOOD LONG RANGE SHOOTER. BUT HE USED MY REM, SENDERO 7 MAG AND FOUND A TREE BRANCH AND LET ER RIP, YOU GUESSED IT THE SHOT WAS LOW BY 6" BUT THE BUCK RAN DOWN STRAIGHT AT US, AT 300 YRD'S THE BUCK STOPPED AND MY SON HIT THE BUCK.

IT WASN'T A GOOD HIT SO THE BUCK VEERED EAST AND MADE IT TO SOME HEAVY OAK'S. AS WE WERE LOOKING FOR THE BUCK SOME GUY'S WERE ON THE JEEP TRAIL ABOUT 200 YRDS ABOVE US, THEY SPOTTED THE BUCK BEDED DOWN AND FINISHED HIM OFF, THEY NEW WE WERE LOOKING FOR A BUCK IN THE SAME DRAW, BUT THEY WEREN'T SURE IF IT WAS THE SAME BUCK TILL THEY SAW THE BULLET IN THE GUT.

THEY DIDN'T REALLY WANT TO GIVE 'EM UP, BUT THEY WERE REAL SPORTSMAN AND NEW FIRST BLOOD IS THE RULE IN THIS AREA..WAY TO GO GUY'S, MY SON WAS HAPPY WITH THE DEER, IT BEING HIS BEST...

I'LL POST SOME PIC'S NEXT WEEK.......LATER...........

(P.S)ONE WEEK LEFT FOR C-ZONE........................

Congratulations to your son on his deer. However, it's probably not a good idea to encourage him to shoot beyond his ability. I know that I have passed up a whole lot of shots that others probably could have made. But they were out of my league. Range time is priceless!!!! We owe it to our intended target. Still, congrats on the deer.

Manny: Congrats to you and your boy. The B zone season has been alot like yours, hot, make that very hot, and dry. So far we have whacked 8 bucks. Nothing big! The rut is about 5 or 6 weeks away, keep in touch if you find Mr. Big. Thanks, Rick
