Hey all my MM friends (and even those who aren't)

Let's give our own Littlebighorn a huge send-off for his Stone sheep adventure!

I'm sure he'll share some pics with us unless he gets a "movie deal" and can't. (just a little dig)

Best of luck, my friend!
I know many who are pullin' for you!

Best of luck! If I'm not mistaken, this is ram #4? Hope you find the ram of your dreams!! Safe travels.

Good luck...no place I would rather be than on a sheep hunt.
Be safe can't wait to see pics/stories about your adventure

>If I'm not
>mistaken, this is ram #4? >

You're absolutely correct which makes this one even more special, if that's possible.

These are nearly breath taking hunts, for all that goes into it. I can't begin to imagine the preasure cooker environment that accompanies a #4 sheep hunt.

All the very best LBH but..........in all honesty, I'm glad it's you and not I. I'd be a quivering basketcase. Hope you kill a mega sheep, a cape stone (pun intended) for your NASGS.

Only "Dreamers" pay much attention to the sheep forum so it's good to know I'm in fine
but limited company on this site.
Yes I head for BC in less than a week for a SECOND go at my 4th sheep. (no pressure DC---I've already failed once) :) A true dreamer could never stop at 3 so I sold a house and worked extra jobs to pay for one more go at my Full Curl/Slam.
The amazing Zekester is a big motivating force in much of this. He was inducted into the Full Curl Hall of Fame last winter so he's my inspiration. He is also a heck of a friend. In the midst of his own personal tragedy, he continued putting together a rifle for me and making sure it shoots tiny groups. If I miss I can't blame it on the rig.

I will try to share the adventure and maybe even some blow by blow inreach messages with Zeke if he is willing to pass them on.

Thanks for the well wishes boys and back at you with your own Fall adventures!

LBH, is marooned in Vancouver and had to book a room and a different flight ticket for a different airlines so hopefully they can make it to Prince George tomorrow.

That dang North-country weather got them!

He's hoping this gets the bad luck out of the way!

Dang. I can relate.

My flight from Vancouver to Whitehorse was just about to be cancelled when a window opened up. They loaded the plane and we took off all in a span of less than 10 minutes.

The many fires burning all over Canada was the culprit. I believe our plane was the only one with a northern/western Canada destination that took off that night.

Good luck LBH!!! Break that new rifle in proper! Heard it's a great shooter and it looks awesome! Can't wait to see the pics!

I know Rick's hunt is drawing to an end and some of you may know the outcome. I won't spill the beans but rather patiently await my friend's return.
His hunt was a success simply because he got to spend more time with his great son on a sheep mountain!!!

Thanks for the update, Zeke! From your post, one may get the idea he had a "grand" time & found himself a "full curl". Looking forward to LBH's recap!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-28-17 AT 08:13PM (MST)[p]Posting with days still left on my scheduled hunt can only mean one thing :)

I finished my full curl/grand slam on the 6th day of my Stone sheep hunt. He's an old black ram much like Zeke's, which is exactly what I was hoping for. He's not a great ram as far as horn length, etc, but his cape is as dark as they come and he's mine.

The best part of any hunting adventure for me is my son Spence was able to be by my side the whole way. Spence was with me when I shot my first ram (a Wyoming Rocky) on his 18th birthday. He has since been able to accompany me on all of my sheep hunts.

We found my Stone on a little grass bench, tucked in rugged goat cliffs. Crappy weather had kept us out of ram country much of the time, so I actually only hunted sheep for two days. While we saw lots of rams, mine was the first for sure legal ram we saw. I was hoping to hunt longer, but we could count 10 stacked up age rings, so we went for him.

We had to scale the cliffs to get a good shot but I was so pumped I didn't even notice the danger involved. The shot was on a very steep angle, but I was 100% confident of the outcome. I was shooting a little 6.5 Creedmore that Zeke helped put together for me and the old ram never knew what hit him, as he lay in his bed.

Because we finished early Spence was able to goat hunt and he took a 10 5/8" long record book billy in one day of hunting. That was awesome icing on a tasty adventure cake.

That part of BC is an incredible place with beautiful scenery and lots of animals. I'm a techno idiot and Spence has all the pictures, so it could take some time before I can post them up, but I will eventually do so. We need a while to decompress and get back to reality.

I wish all of you could have come along. It was indeed an amazing adventure.
Thanks for all of your support and well wishes.
Rick

Congrats, you've definitely earned those 4 rams! Makes it all the more special you shared it with your son.

I had the pleasure of putting my hands on a couple awesome trophies yesterday. It was my privilege for them to share the adventure-stories with me.
A couple fine trophies for even finer men!
Congratulations!!!

Congrats LBH! Those experiences with your son are priceless. I know that I don't remember much about the size of the animals we took when hunting with my dad, but I still have those great memories to hold on to.

Super great congrats. Well deserved.

Easy there Adwriter.
Deep breaths, innnnnn....ooouuuut.

My son has all the pics on his camera, and until he gets them to me, I'm helpless in satisfying your curiosity. Go on another hunt or two and I'll see what I can do by the time you get back :)

Sorry guys,
I tried to post but I think my photos are too big. I will keep efforting but I have posted a pic on Instagram if you really want to look.

Ok
My son just taught me how to minimize the pics so here goes.

The story of what happened is above in a previous post.

I can only add that I have been extremely blessed when it comes to sheep tags and opportunities to complete this dream. The last one we really had to sacrifice for and earn, but that makes it even more special.

The quest for all four North American rams has been amazing, but the real blessing has been to have Spence along the whole way. We have shared some incredible experiences together in the mountain air. That in and of itself is way more gratifying to me than the rams themselves.

Dream Big!

LBH....what a Super great ram. Have seen none blacker than that, truly one of a kind.

Absolutely beautiful.

Very happy for you LBH. Sheep have never been my passion but I understand passions and I can understand how important this sheep was for you. The grandest slam of all, done well. I think I could hear that sigh, all the way from here. :) As they say, you can now "rest high on that mountain"!

A great big Congratulation sir.

Wow big Congrats to you and your son, they are both exceptional animals. I to prefer the dark colored stones.

Congrats on reaching the pinnacle, LBH. It doesn't get any better than that, and that's a beautiful stone and goat.

I'm happy to put an end to this thread, but not without first thanking each of you for your kind comments and genuine interest in our success. It's what I enjoy about this forum more than anything else. Good people finding an interest in like minded strangers.
I know many of you well enough to call you "friend" and I hope that is reciprocal with at least some. At any rate, thanks for your interest.

Now this thread can go to bed. :)
