I'm thinking about going to the Pioneer unit in Idaho this year for Archery Elk season. Anyone have any input? Not looking or your honey hole just general info. Any recommendations on an area to focus on?

Thanks

Since i dont have the regs sitting here, can you tell me where the Pioneer is? Are you talking North and west of Henry's Lake? IF so, I may be able to help some.

I've hunted there for 25 years. I'll probably hunt elsewhere this year. Too many cow tags and too many wolves. There are still good numbers of elk there, but their behaviour has changed. This is just my observation and is not scientific. However, you won't have to go far to find hunters who will agree.

I have hunted there the last 10 years and will be hunting somewhere else this year. The same reasons as above,to many cow tags and wolves plus in the last 4 years hunter numbers have really gone up. The elk have changed and so has the hunting.
