A good friend of mine drew a NV 061, 071 early rifle elk tag for the end of Oct and early Nov.

Can anyone give us an idea or two about where to start scounting? I understand that the quality of the bulls in that unit is pretty good - how big should he reasonably hold out for?

Thanks.

my brother drew that tag too so ive been asking and a friend says 4 ppl he knows have shot 350 to 375 bulls up there im real excited put in my vacation time at the dealership i sell cars at so i can go with him so maybe youll see us up there im buying maps thos weekend to start figuring out the roads and stuff cuz im in reno and it is a long drive for us

I feel that a 350 to 375 bull is very attainable. I had a tag last year in 72 and 74 and saw 300 to 340 class elk every day. Get good maps and good optics and start looking. I'm not familiar with the West side of Jarbidge but I've heard good things. Goodluck, fatrooster.

NvDogshooter,

The only dogs you shoot are the ones I call in for you.......Ha. Thanks for the help with ranging my cow last year. That's cow elk...Your a good friend.....Are you going to spare any time for my 051 buck tag? I have a pretty good idea where a nice buck is that got missed buy another buddy last year.

Tell your bro good luck and he can't shoot the elk with that .22 pistolla he favors for the squirrels......ie, Mohogany ridge.......I have dibs on half a back strap from that bull he shoots.
