Anyone hunt this area for elk or deer before? Just wondering what everyones opinion on trophy potential in this area is. I have hnted deer here for the past couple of years and seen some brutes, but all the private and public land mixed in together makes for a real headache. Hopefully I can finaly draw an elk permit for this area this year. Come on results! If I don't draw this area, I was thinking about heading to the Snowy Range to bow hunt. I know that this area is very hard to hunt because it is so think, but I seen two bulls that came off the land above Centennial last year that made my jaw drop.

I didn't find the timber too bad up in the Snowys, there are alot of old clear cuts and meadows. Good country. I've not hunted that side of the state in 15 years, but there were usually elk around Rob Roy and always a few on sheep mountain. Lake Owen and on over toward Fox Park wasn't too bad either. Muddy mountain was a honey hole at one time and then they clear cutted basically the whole mountain. Seemed like a lot of hunters up there, but not too many willing to get off of the road very far...as of back in the day anyway.
