Changed to this unit for first rifle and am looking for good info, also for good horse rental for this area.

Lot's of rain lately and vegetation is waist high. I don't know the unit very well, but will be helping my two brothers with a late elk hunt. Hope to get in some scouting soon. Can't help you with the horse rental.

We were up in the area two weeks ago on a summer trip. Drove up from Gunnison through Kebler Pass and back down to Crested Butte.

It was pretty wet. Saw lots of deer. The elk were up high as would be expected.

We are hunting there in 07. Probably making a backpack trip into the West Elks this early October just prior to a Wyoming hunt.

we will be going in there for first rifle so if you do get in there early Oct I'd appreciate any updates/reports and would give you my e-mail address. I then can hopefully give some advice for you after our season this year.
