Any recommendations anyone could provide on a cow elk hunt? Looking to go elk hunting for the first time and just want the experience and to bring home some meat. I put in on the draws for NM and CO - didn't get drawn, so this is plan B.

Cory, depending on where you live and what you want to pay, there are several NM LO tags available. There are some on this site as well in unit 53. I don't know much about the unit, other than its steep and has some decent bulls. Others on the forum could give much better info than I can. Go online to the Albuquerque Journal at http://classifieds.abqjournal.com/ and look during the weekends. There are usually tags for sale there. Another option is to call Charley's Sporting Goods in Albuquerque as LO's post their tags for sale in their store 505-275-3006. Another option is to check Ebay. I saw a few tags for sale there. I'm sure you will also get some posts from LO's on this site in the $200-400 range. I hope this helps.
