Just wondering if anybody has ever attepmt to hunt elk out there on the open bull rifle hunt. The reason I'm asking is becuase I drew my FOURTH choice anterless antelope tag for that same area and just realized it runs the same time as the elk hunt.OPPS! didn't realize that when applying. Any info would be great such as accessible land and if there is even any elk out that way. Thanks

most of the elk hang out on private land. On one peice one day another the next. There used to be a fair number of good bulls but they got shot out in a hurry and are kept in check by the locals.

No, not really. Todd is accurate on status of elk as well.

Well thanks for the info. Hopefully I can find a day to run out there and drop a doe antelope. Kinda suck its during the rifle elk season but what can ya do. Is it very hard to get permission to some private land?

it is possible to get permission for pronghorn..maybe? impossible for elk, there is still a few nice bulls around,and getting to be more of them,but you would have to be family, or close freind of the land owner to hunt them.
